Meet Kelly! Our 2019 Inspiring Intern

Meet Kelly! Our 2019 Inspiring Intern

These past few years, we’ve had the opportunity to host several interns through our Inspiring Intern Program. I created this Inspiring Internship program after purchasing The Internship Bundle by Nancy Ray. Let me tell you, they simply keep getting better and better. (You can meet some of our past interns, here.)

About Kelly…

I’ve known Kelly and her family for quite a while now … to say she’s special to me is an understatement. She’s a California girl, incredibly bright, has a strong interest in business and marketing AND she’s going to Samford in the fall! (where I took my pre-nursing courses!)

To be honest, her internship, which was secured almost a year ago, could not have come at a more ideal time. (if you follow us on IG, you know why.) Talk about God’s providence! Why do I ever doubt that he’s got it all under control?

Kelly’s presence in the office has already brought me calm in the storm: hello organization!

This summer is going to be all about creating more internal structure and organization in the office – a valuable real-life experience for any intern who wants to learn what it takes to run a small business.

Meet Nicholas! The Newest Member of our Construction Crew

Meet Nicholas! The Newest Member of our Construction Crew

We are so excited to finally introduce you to Nicholas, our new Construction Crew Member.

Meet our newest team member, Nicholas!

You know how Chip and Joanna’s mantra goes something like … people should focus on doing what they’re good at?

I don’t know if you ever will meet someone who loves construction as much as this guy.

A few character traits that attracted us to Nicholas were:

⁃ his ability to follow directions

⁃ his ambition

⁃ and love of doing quality work

Y’all. He is so good.

It’s taken him a bit to open up… but I have a feeling he’ll feel like a part of the family before you know it. (Although I’m pretty sure he was taken by surprise when he showed up for on-boarding at our home office and was greeted by a 3-year old who’s all-up-in-his-business)

Let’s get to know Nicholas, shall we?

⁃ Okay, to start…what is your favorite food?

What is your favorite memory?

My favorite memory is the day that my kids were born.

⁃ Dogs or Cats (or neither):

Dogs for sure.

⁃ The last book you read.

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter

⁃ Favorite movie?

Road to Perdition

⁃ If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love to visit Germany.

⁃ Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Owning a beautiful home with my family.

Isn’t he great?!

We already see so much value potential in him and opportunities for growth as our company grows!

Nicholas – we are incredibly grateful for you.

Join Us!

Will you join me in welcoming him to The Inspiring Investment team as our newest Construction Crew Member?

Meet Kayla! Our Office and Design Assistant!

Meet Kayla! Our Office and Design Assistant!

We are beyond excited to finally be able to introduce you to Kayla, our Office and Design Assistant.

You know when you meet someone and they are like a breath of fresh air? That’s what this girl is to me.

It’s been about 3 years of juggling multiple hats and I’m finally learning this thing called delegation… I have a feeling I’ll be delegating tasks to someone who will likely do them better than me.

After researching for hours on how to make the best hire, taking a mini course by Nancy Ray and straight hustle, I developed my own hiring process that resulted in this sweet girl joining our team.

The best thing?!? She loves real estate just about as much as I do! Talk about heaven!

Kayla is a soon-to-be graduate of Meredith College has all-the-organization skills, an eye for design, and background in event planning.

We are still getting to know each other but, so far, my favorite parts about Kayla are:

  • her laugh – i’ve noticed she makes the cutest little snort when she starts to laugh really hard
  • she’s super good with spreadsheets
  • and we share a mutual love of “the google”

I also love that she’s driven, knows the direction she wants to go.

… we plan on helping her get there.

Let’s meet Kayla, shall we?

  • Okay, I have to ask. Chocolate or Vanilla?

  • Dogs or Cats (or neither)

Dogs, 100%

  • The last book you read.

Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst

  • Favorite Movie?

The Shawshank Redemption…or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days…clearly depends on my mood, haha!

  • Design inspiration:

Joanna Gaines. I am shiplap-obsessed.

  • If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Hawaii! I am a sucker for traveling to tropical places and Hawaii has always been at the top of my list.

  • What is your degree in (or going to be)?

I have just completed a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences. Essentially, my degree is all about home economics and how to help individuals, families, and communities resolve issues through the practice of basic life skills! I have a minor in Interior Design and focused most of my core curriculum and research on interior design and how the design of a simple space can change an individual’s overall mood and performance.

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

This question gets me every time. By nature, I am a planner. I have every little detail of how I expect my life to go perfectly illustrated in my head. If I were to answer this question today, I would say that in 5 years I will be married, building a farmhouse, and beginning to start a family. I expect to be practicing real estate in the Raleigh area, and continuing my career in the interior design industry. I also expect to be in the process of connecting with someone who can set me up with a TV show on HGTV (crazy dream of mine!). BUT, if I were to answer the question honestly today, I have no earthly idea where I will be in five years. If there is one important thing that I have learned in my 22 years of life, it is that God’s plans are far greater than I could ever imagine and that He is going to have me exactly where He wants me to be five years from now. I believe that He has placed my dreams and desires on my heart for a reason, but ultimately He goes before me. And for that, I am so grateful.

I mean, don’t you just love her?!?

With Kayla by my side, you can expect

  • more organized content
  • a growing community of people who want to make inspiring investments in their home
  • and resources available to help you and all your home renovation, design, or real estate needs

Thank you so much for helping me welcome Kayla to our small, but mighty team!

Meet Hannah: Our Newest Inspiring Intern

Meet Hannah: Our Newest Inspiring Intern

Today, we are simply elated to introduce to you our next Inspiring Intern: Hannah!

meet intern marketing real estate flipping houses raleigh

The first time I interviewed Hannah, I knew something was just special about her. You guys she is incredibly authentic and has sweetest spirit about her; it’s simply contagious. We are grateful to have her as a part of our team for the summer!

I conducted a little interview of sorts in an effort to help you get to know her a bit more:

Meet Our Inspiring Intern: Hannah!

  • Hannah, tell us about yourself!

Well, I think the most important thing to know about me is that I love Jesus a whole lot 🙂 I am a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill, studying to be a Business Major with a concentration in Marketing. On campus I am very involved in ministry; I lead YoungLife at Trinity middle school of Durham, so during the year you could regularly find me hanging out and laughing way too hard with middle school girls.

  • What role will you be playing at the Inspiring Investment?

I am following in Natalie’s footsteps, working alongside Katie running social media accounts, assisting in collaboration efforts, and occasionally writing content for their blog.

Katelynn and Uriah chose to have an intern to take the opportunity to teach someone like me about what it means to run a business, market that business well, and authentically portray the values they hold dear to their company and family. As the next Inspiring Intern, I get to learn from faithful followers of Jesus who use the tools given to them to love people well, using social media and their blog to inspire, encourage, and inform people through real estate!

  • What makes you interested in the Inspiring Investment?

When God created man, He created us to be like Him. Because we were made in the Image of God, it is in our nature to be attracted to things that are like us. That means that we are naturally drawn toward the Jesus in people, regardless of if we realize it. I was interested in the Inspiring Investment because it boldly and proudly models the redemptive process of being made new through belief in Jesus by taking houses that are often in bad condition and making them better, redeeming them as Jesus redeems us. So naturally, I was drawn towards Katie and Uriah because they use their company to be like He who created them.

  • Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration in people. In the words that you write, in the art that you make, in the songs that you sing, in the houses that you flip… people inspire me to be better and to love more. My friends from college are a huge part of that. I have been placed in a community at UNC that makes it a priority to include everyone and be genuine always, to walk in kindness and goodness. The people that I have surrounded myself with at school inspire me daily, as do my parents who both work hard to provide for our family.

  • What are some of your long term goals?

To be completely honest, I am so bad at planning ahead. I find myself daydreaming more often than I should be and those daydreams are often filled with images of me traveling or getting married, having kids or adopting a little boy… I think so much about different parts of my future life that I have a lot of “imagination plans” but ultimately, I am comforted by the fact that my plans for myself will be forever dull in comparison to my God’s plans for me. So my long term goal, the one that I am always sure of and will always plan ahead for, is that I am walking towards God in all that I do. If that means graduating from UNC’s Business school and getting a great job doing something that I enjoy then fantastic! If that means doing something that I have never imagined before in one of my many daydreams, then great! The idea of being in the hands of someone much smarter and stronger than me comforts me beyond belief because the pressure of having definite long term goals is lifted from my shoulders.

Now for a Fast round!!
